Meet Beth Ayn

Meet Beth Ayn

At the age of thirteen, my daughter was diagnosed with an eating disorder. I had no idea of what an eating disorder was, of its’ prevalence or of how it impacted the lives of families.  I didn’t realize at the time that recovery from an eating disorder is long, painful, costly due to inadequate insurance coverage and difficult for all involved. However, I also didn’t realize that recovery was possible with the appropriate interventions and treatment.

As I moved through recovery with my daughter, it became apparent that our Commonwealth not only lacked resources to help individuals and families but also lacked resources for professionals who provided services. Determined, I coupled my professional skillset with my passion to bring about change to develop and expand services that Stay Strong Virginia currently offers.

I have researched and reviewed all resources provided to ensure that individuals and families have access to the same quality care afforded to my family when we first embarked on this journey.

Recovery is possible! I encourage you to stay the course.

Warmly,

Beth Ayn

It is with deep appreciation that I thank Trish Wilkins, RD for moving my daughter through recovery and for providing the words of encouragement that actually sparked the idea for Stay Strong Virginia.
